Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage involves applying firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and soft tissue. It benefits sufferers of chronic aches, pain and tension such as a stiff neck, upper and lower back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders whether brought on by intense exercise, injury or stress. Benefits include:-

  • Eases chronic muscle pain
  • Reduces stress induced tension
  • Relieves nerve pain conditions such as Sciatica
  • Aids injury rehabilitation
  • Relieves back and neck pain
  • Improves posture
  • Aids recovery from intense exercise

Whilst benefits have not been scientifically proven, a survey in American magazine Consumer Reports, 34,000 people ranked deep tissue massage more effective in relieving osteoarthritis pain than physical therapy, exercise, prescription medications, chiropractic, acupuncture, diet, and over-the-counter drugs.

Ultrasound Therapy

Ultrasound therapy is a treatment facility used by physical therapists since the 1950s to treat pain conditions and to promote tissue healing. While ultrasound therapy is not effective for all chronic pain conditions, we have experienced significant benefits for our clients at JB Clinic in treating the following,
  • Myofascial pain (Muscle knots)
  • Sprains and strains
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Pain caused by scar tissue

Ultrasound therapy is a painless treatment with clients often saying they experience slight warming  or sometime a mild prickly sensation. This seems to be the case for clients with hightend sensitivity though so don't be suprised is you feel nothing at all.

Ultrasound works by stimulating the blood vessels in soft tissue to increase blood flow. This in turn can promote healing in damaged tissue and is cases of Myofacial pain, will significantly aid the release of tightly knotted muscules.

Spinal Manipulation

Spinal manipulation, commonly referred to as 'Cracking your back' is the action of moving and jolting joints. Its purpose is to relieve pressure on joints, reduce inflammation, and improve nerve function. It’s often used to treat back, neck, shoulder, and headache pain.

Forms of manipulative therapy have been used for thousands of years around the world. Countries and regions where records of its historical use have been found include Indonesia, Asia, India, Russia, and Norway. Writings from China in 2700 B.C. and from Greece in 1500 B.C. mention manipulating the spine and legs to ease back pain. The ancient Greek physician Hippocrates, describes manipulative techniques in his writings.
